Beauty Therapy
Whether it is advising clients on face and body care, applying makeup and treatments, hair removal techniques, selling skincare products, or getting very hands-on with facials, massages, and manicures, a career in the beauty industry is varied and rewarding. Our Level 4 programme is entry-level and gives students skills in maintaining and running a spa while keeping sustainable and economic practices in mind.
"Where I come from, there are no beauty services for women – I am determined to change that. Studying again is a big change, but I love being back in the classroom. Long term, my dream is to set up a home-based salon back in the Chathams to provide beauty services to the locals."

Career opportunities in beauty therapy
Beauty therapists look after clients from head to toe. Their day may involve providing treatments for various issues such as treating dry skin, getting rid of unwanted hair, or pampering clients with full facials or massages. Beauty therapists will also help clients look and feel their best with cosmetic makeovers, eyebrow tints, and manicures. Nail technicians will consult with clients to ensure they understand their needs and advise or treat their nails accordingly. This could include trimming and filing nails, applying the various stages of polish, preparation for artificial nails, nail art, full manicures, and massaging of hands and feet.

About the faculty
Hair and beauty sit within the School of Media Arts faculty and is strategically placed to meet the needs of learners, graduates, and industry; regionally, nationally, and internationally. Wintec educators pride themselves in their association with industry organisations and associations and often host industry talks and workshops on campus to meet the specific needs of learners.
Training and qualifications are achieved through best practice facilitation, access to modern facilities and current industry technologies, flexible programme delivery, and contemporary practices.
