What do you enjoy about teaching/your job?
I enjoy seeing the students working together in a wide range of different musical areas as well as across other creative disciplines. Another exciting aspect of working in the School of Media Arts is being amongst such a clever department of lecturers – all professional ‘artists’ in their own right who are willing to share their skills and talents with students.
What do you love about your area?
The Music Department is an exciting and creative place to study and work. Students and staff work together in the areas of performance, music production/engineering, composition, songwriting, music for film, or music for digital media.
Tell us about your experience in the industry
I have worked professionally in music and theatre as a director, musical director, orchestrator/arranger and pianist, throughout New Zealand, Australia and further abroad. Future projects include directing Mary Poppins, Miss Saigon and Sister Act – The Musical.
What keeps you busy outside of Media Arts?
I'm working on a new soundtrack for Totem & Ore, a documentary film, as well as a musical based on the short stories of Russian author Nikolai Gogol.
