What do you enjoy about teaching/your job?
I enjoy working with students who have a passion for design. I see value in collaborating with creative people from other fields to create multifaceted work.
What do you love about your area?
Graphic design can be used to attract, engage, and persuade people, but what I love most is its ability to create clarity. We live in a world full of information and graphic design is a tool to help us navigate that information. Good design transforms complexity into clarity.
Tell us about your experience in the industry
I began my career as an in-house Graphic Designer at Gallagher Group Ltd. After that I ran my own business, Remark Design Studio, working with clients across the Waikato and Bay of Plenty. I have been teaching since 2009.
What keeps you busy outside of Media Arts?
As a creative, I enjoy working on projects that step outside of traditional graphic design. I have worked on a range of projects using projection mapping and animation to create experiences for the public including building projections, data visualisations, and interactive work.
