Education

From educating and caring for young children to teaching adults, the goals of education remain the same - to deliver both information and inspiration. Students will experience those goals first-hand from some of the most inspirational educators in the business, when they study one of our education programmes.

Wintec education programmes have a high level of practicum, teaching students what they need to know to succeed as well as giving them plenty of opportunities to put theory into practice.

Te Ara Pūtake My Academic Pathway

One semester

This programme is for those who want to begin study, but need to build confidence or brush up on skills. Students will choose from five pathways that align with their career goals, including: Health, Social Practice, Media Arts, Early Childhood, and the Open pathway for general subjects and skills. Students will gain essential academic knowledge, capabilities, and skills needed to succeed at higher levels of study.

New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 4)

This programme is designed for those engaged in adult and tertiary teaching or training. Students will learn the foundation knowledge, skills and attributes required for starting out in an adult and tertiary teaching or training career.

Adult and Tertiary Teaching in Practice (Level 5)

This programme is intended for people who already have a qualification or equivalent experience in their primary discipline eg a trade, and represents the base level qualification for a professional adult and tertiary teaching practitioner.

Graduate Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages

This programme is designed for those who want to work with people learning English as a second or additional language. These programmes are suitable for trained teachers as well as those with little or no teaching experience.

Graduate Diploma of Information Technology in Education

This programme provides practicing teachers with the skills and knowledge to integrate information communication technology into the classroom to enhance teaching and learning for students.

Te Paetahi Akoranga Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education)

This degree is designed for those who would like to pursue a career as a qualified early childhood education teacher. In addition to class time, students will spend a minimum of 12 hours per week in a licensed early childhood education setting putting skills into practice.

Design Thinking Taster

This fun, fast-paced and interactive workshop will change the way you think about problems and how to solve them. You will learn Design Thinking principles that are human centered and how they can be used to craft innovative, customer-focused solutions through doing. Lots of doing.
