Elna Fourie
Facilitator & Coach
Prompter, Conductor & Collaborator
Elna is that cool teacher everyone loves because she lets you bring your favourite toy in on your last day.
With a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in English and Screen & Media Studies, a Master of Arts, and a Graduate Diploma in Human Resource
Management, she has taught a lot of students from different disciplines. From interior design and fashion, through to business and public relations, Elna sums up her teaching experience this way: “I teach the stuff about getting
stuff done, about making a living from what you love, and about being good to work with.”
As a Senior Academic Staff member in the School of Media Arts, Elna strongly believes that communication is the key to success. With this in mind, she aims to provide her students with the skills they will need in the big, bad world. Self-management, problem-solving, and the ability to work with others are crucial to working in any industry, and The Design Factory is the perfect environment to teach these skills.
Elna not only nails it in at Wintec, but works alongside arts organisations in the region, maintaining membership to various national industry organisations, and getting involved in industry-led initiatives. One such initiative is the Innes 48 hour Business
Start Up Competition, which she helped establish. Elna reckons “opportunity is the name of the game ... got out and get it”
