- LO1
• Biosecurity protocols, including isolation, quarantine and infection control
• Concepts of asepsis, sterilisation, and decontamination
• Zoonotic and notifiable diseases
LO2
• Recognising and recording signs of health, with normal and abnormal parameters
• Signs of pain and stress
• Common rural animal diseases and conditions
• Responding to animal healthcare plans for a range of conditions
• Record keeping for animal healthcare management
LO3
• Preventative healthcare for rural animals, including the principles of immunology
• Identification, treatment and control of common endo- and ectoparasites
• Reproductive and metabolic disease prevention and risk factors - Teaching and Learning Strategy

- Assessment in this course employs an achievement-based grading scheme. Aakonga will be advised of all matters relating to summative assessment at the start of the course.
