Learning Outcomes
1. Select and apply first aid practices and CPR suitable for the electrical trade.
2. Identify workplace dangers and hazards and apply their controls in accordance with the currentHealth and Safety at Work legislation.
3. Describe workplace ethics and cultural competence in the electrical context.
4. Describe safe working practices in accordance with the legislative requirements for working safely in the elctrical industry.
5. Describe the scope of electrical industry Acts, Regulations, Standards, Codes, and industry governance bodies.
Content
Topics include but are not limited to:
- First Aid and CPR for the electrical workplace
- Rescuing persons in contact with electricity
- Hazards within the electrical workplace
- Workplace health and safety procedures
- Professional standards expected of electrical workers
- Electrical Health & Safety practices and procedures
- Legislation, standards, and codes of practice governing electrical workers
- Workplace documentation
Assessment Criteria
Theory and practical assessments are selected from range of methods described n the programme document. Assessment methods may vary from provider to provider to accomodate regional requirements. Students will be advised of all matters relating to summative assessment at the start of the course. The course is assessed using competency-based assessment. Students must successfully complete all summative assessments in order to pass and receive credit for this course.
Teaching and Learning Strategy
The programme uses a range of teaching and learning methods as described in the Programme Document. Learning and teaching activities employed in this course may vary slightly, from provider to provider and cohort to cohort, to accommodate varying cohort numbers, localised resources and requirements. All courses contain a combination of learning activities aimed at providing a mix of practical-based or applied activity as well as the presentation of theoretical knowledge.

Resources used for this course will be determined by each provider and will include a minimum of:
- Learning Management System (LMS), including access to:
- Course information;
- Course notes prepared by tutors;
- Online learning resources;
- Library resources.
- Physical resources including Labs/Workshops and Classrooms.
