- 1. Function as a professional, safe and highly competent practitioner in the physiotherapy clinical practice area.
2. Deliver effective person-centred care with clients, whaanau, and effective interprofessional practice in the multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
3. Delivery culturally responsiveness care to a high level in the physiotherapy clinical practice area.
4. Critically evaluate own practice including reflection, identify gaps in knowledge and plan professional development to enhance future practice.
5. Justify the competency standards expected of a competent entry-level physiotherapy practitioner. - Content
- - This module involves full-time clinical practice and the management of a clinical case load. The clinical practice will occur in one of the following clinical areas: acute care, cardiopulmonary, rehabilitation/neurology, musculoskeletal, community practice or integrated general.
- This module will include clinical practice (minimum of 240 hours across the semester)
For each physiotherapy clinical practice module content will include:
- Supervised clinical practice experience in the relevant physiotherapy clinical practice area
- Clinical application of skills in history taking in the relevant physiotherapy clinical practice area
- Clinical application of physical examination skills in the relevant physiotherapy clinical practice area including interpretation of clinical examination findings
- Clinical application of intervention skills in the relevant physiotherapy clinical practice area, including appropriate outcome measures, treatment modification and progression
- Clinical application of clinical reasoning skills, including making appropriate assessment and clinical management decisions
- Effective application of preventative and educational strategies
- Clinical application of oral and non-verbal communication skills
- Clinical application of written communication skills, including documentation of client data
- Direct experience working in a multi-disciplinary healthcare team in the relevant physiotherapy clinical practice area and contributing to the team
- The role of the physiotherapist in the relevant physiotherapy clinical practice area
- Clinical application of skills in safe and evidence-based physiotherapy practice in the relevant clinical practice area
- Skills in self-review and peer review of clinical performance
- Health professional behaviour and responsibilities.

- Clinical Assessment - this assessment must be passed to pass the module.
Students need to provide evidence against all learning outcomes, and gain an overall mark of 50% to pass this module.
Students must complete a minimum of 240 hours of clinical practice to be eligible to complete the Clinical Assessment.
