Apply the fundamental principles of DC theory
Apply the fundamental principles of AC theory
Apply the fundamental principles of basic three phase theory
Operate and apply the use of electrical measuring equipment.
Content
DC circuit theory including concepts of EMF, voltage and current, resistance, Ohms Law, Kirchhoff's laws, resistors in series, parallel and series-parallel and voltage dividers.
Construction and operation of capacitors including current and voltage transients in RC circuits.
Sinusoidal alternating voltages and currents and the behaviour of capacitive reactive components in an AC circuit; phasor diagrams.
Combinational logic circuits, simple op-amp circuits, diodes and simple power supply circuits.
Basic electrical measuring equipment.
