- Terminology, functions and organization of body into systems
- Some use of Te Reo Maaori anatomical terms
- Components and main functions of specified organs, and their location within body cavities
- Tikanga around touching or referencing certain body parts and processes
- Structure and function of specified blood collection sites and the circulatory system
- The haemostatic process for:
Major organs
Blood collection sites – arm, hand and foot
Circulatory System – blood, heart, blood vessels, vascular circulation
- Haemostasis – vascular, platelet, coagulation phases and clot retraction and destruction
- Disorders commonly associated with a range of body systems
- Interventions to reduce the impacts of disease
Learning Outcomes
LO1 Apply anatomical terms to describe the human body accurately.
LO2 Outline the location and function of specified human tissues and physiological processes.
LO3 Describe the structure and function of specified human blood collection sites and the circulatory system.
LO4 Describe disorders commonly associated with a range of human body systems.
Teaching and Learning Strategy
Learning and teaching activities will employ a range of elements drawn from approved methods to align with the context of the learning (delivery mode, regional specific requirement, etc.) and any particular needs of the group of aakonga.

Assessment Criteria
Assessment in this course employs an achievement-based grading scheme. Learners will be advised of all matters relating to summative assessment prior to the start of the course. Aakonga must submit all specified assessment items and obtain at least 50% overall score in order to pass this course.
