Entrepreneurship

Prescription

Students will acquire a broad overview of the theories and practice of entrepreneurship and will explore the significance or entrepreneurial activity to social and economic well-being. Students will gain insight into the key resources and approaches used to underpin entrepreneurial activity and will consider the soft skill sets, required to operate sustainably in an entrepreneurial environment. The role of governments and other regulatory bodies in fostering entrepreneurial activity will be explored.

Learning Outcomes: 1.Explore the roles and impacts of entrepreneurs and their activities world-wide, with a particular focus on the New Zealand context.
2.Investigate the strategies used by entrepreneurs to mitigate risk and understand the benefits of the application of contemporary approaches to risk management in entrepreseurship.
3.Explore ways by which entrepreneurs are able to recognise, create and respond to opportunities and to mobilise resources to take such opportunities to the marketplace.
4.Explore the role of government and other regulatory bodies in fostering entrepreneurial activity, with a particular focus on the New Zealand context.

Teaching and Learning Strategy: Teaching will involve blended delivery methods incorporating the Moodle online delivery platform. Other delivery methods my involve theoretical and practical classes, face to face, lectures, tutorials, workshops, group activities, guest tutors, field trips, role-play, and video conferencing, as appropriate.
Assessment Criteria: Candidates must achieve a minimum result of 40% in the final assessment of this module. They must also achieve a minimum C grade pass overall from all assessments to receive a passing grade for the module.
