- 1. Apply models and frameworks of care and demonstrate how they influence hauora in the bicultural context of Aotearoa New Zealand.
2. Critically analyse and demonstrate how relational practice, cultural safety, whanaungatanga and manaakitanga are integrated into nursing practice when working with whanau and health consumers.
3. Demonstrate collaborative care for health consumers and their whanau throughout the lifespan experiencing common, acute, traumatic and complex healthcare needs. .
4. Utilise evidence-based knowledge of pathophysiological processes, physical and mental health assessment, and diagnostic reasoning when caring for health consumers and their whanau in the development of differential and probable diagnoses.
5. Integrate evidence-based knowledge of pharmacology, pharmacotherapeutics and medicine management for health consumers with common, acute, traumatic and complex care needs.
6. Apply critical reasoning and judgement in the development of evidence-based therapeutic and recovery-focused nursing care plans, in collaboration with the health consumer, whanau and the inter-professional team. - Content
- Clinical Practicum – 300 hours assigned to the continuum of hauora, with a focus on developing nursing practice in relation to health consumers their whanau experiencing common, acute, traumatic and complex care needs. Includes two clinical practicum one of which is in an acute mental health setting.
Hauora is a Maaori concept of well-being, which encompasses the physical, mental and emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions of health, and is recognised by the World Health Organisation. - Assessment Criteria
- The portfolio is comprised of multiple components. Students need to provide evidence against all learning outcomes and gain 50% in the Evidence Portfolio and pass the Clinical Competence Assessment to pass this module.
