Prescription
This module aims to develop listening skills required to understand language at a CEFR high B1 level. It will enable students to understand straightforward factual information about common everyday or job-related topics.

Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate understanding of most moderately complex social conversations, including gist, context, feelings, opinions and/or relationships.
Identify main points, speakers, purposes and/or attitudes in concrete and some abstract concepts and ideas in extended discussions on familiar topics.
Demonstrate understanding of instructions and directions for technical and non-technical tasks.
Demonstrate understanding of informal presentations on a range of familiar topics by extracting and reproducing key information.
Content
Phonological features
-stress and intonation to follow discourse
-feelings, moods, attitudes, important points and opinions expressed through stress and intonation.

Range
-a range of grammatical forms used in familiar and some unfamiliar contexts
-high-to-medium frequency vocabulary and expressions relating to familiar and some unfamiliar topics.

Gist
-the main ideas in clearly structured announcements, conversations and discussions on familiar and less familiar topics.

Detail
-information in announcements, conversations and discussions on familiar and less familiar topics.

Assessment Criteria
The portfolio is comprised of multiple assessment tasks, not tests alone. To pass this module, students must attempt and pass all assessment tasks.
