Prescription
This module aims to develop reading skills required to understand written texts at a CEFR high B1 level. It will enable students to understand moderately complex written texts on reasonably familiar topics and subjects relating to his or her field of interest.

Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate understanding of main points, specific information and purpose of descriptions, feature articles, reports, instructions and/or narrations.
Interpret and use information in charts, diagrams, tables, graphs, and/or website menus.
Access, locate, and compare pieces of information online.
Content
Range
-a range of vocabulary relating to work, leisure and study
-longer texts which contain some complex structures.
Register
-a range of features which indicate the purpose of a text.

Text structure
-text purpose through layout conventions, signs and symbols
-organisational features of texts to locate information
-organisational, lexical and grammatical features of texts
-meaning through discourse markers including sequence markers.

Assessment Criteria
The portfolio is comprised of multiple assessment tasks, not tests alone. To pass this module, students must attempt and pass all assessment tasks.
