- Design and implement resistance training programmes to develop strength, hypertrophy, muscular endurance and power.
Apply and integrate periodisation to exercise programmes to meet client goals and objectives.
Analyse trends in exercise prescription and discuss the efficiency of identified training methods. - Content
- -Current theories in exercise adaption and adherence
-Biomechanical analysis
-Advanced exercise principles and exercise techniques
-Motor control and motor learning concepts
-Sub-maximal and maximal predictive tests using a specific protocol
-Developing programmes to improve anaerobic power and capacity
-General programme periodisation including strength programmes
-Trends in exercise prescription
-Application of training principles with regards to: speed, agility, muscular power, muscular endurance, strength, weight gain
-Assess, evaluate and discuss the acute physiological responses in trained and untrained subjects
-Assess and evaluate the overtraining syndrome - Teaching and Learning Strategy
- The teaching and learning material may incorporate workshop activities, laboratory tasks, lectures, online research, training videos, tutor directed learning, and student managed learning, individual and group work. The assignments will encourage reflection on important concepts taught throughout the course.
- Assessment Criteria
- To pass this module student must complete all assessments and accumulate an overall module mark of no less than 50.
