To provide the student with the knowledge and skills to integrate and apply an exercise intervention programme for healthy clients. This module includes 15 hours of work based learning.

- Analyse current health and wellness issues, including weight management, in New Zealand and globally.
Develop, implement and adapt exercise programmes to meet the specific client needs/goals.
Develop weight management plans for identified clients applying the principles of exercise and nutrition to achieve a desired result.
Describe the relationship between flexibility, ROM and low back function and posture. - Content
- Lifestyle, health and wellness
-Epidemiology of obesity in NZ and globally
-Client screening / needs analysis, Interpretation and communication of client results
-Contraindications to exercise
-Clinical assessments of body dimensions, body composition and flexibility
-Sub-maximal predictive tests of cardiovascular capacity
-Exercise programme design - application of training principles with regards to cardiovascular (aerobic) fitness, weight loss, posture and flexibility
-Physiology: response to exercise, diets
-Diet planning principles and weight management plans
-Pelvic-lumbar stability
-Group exercise
-Stress management - Teaching and Learning Strategy
- The teaching and learning material may incorporate workshop activities, laboratory tasks, lectures, online research, training videos, tutor directed learning, and student managed learning, individual and group work. The assignments will encourage reflection on important concepts taught throughout the course.
- Assessment Criteria
- To pass this module students must complete all assessments and accumulate an overall module mark of no less than 50.
