To critically examine the principles of Digital learning, online pedagogy, and student centered online practice. Participants will examine a range of critical issues related to effective online learning. Participants will reflect on their teaching practice and apply online learning principles to their teaching practice.

1. Critically analyse the rationale, pedagogy, strategies, and modes of digital learning.
2. Investigate the principles of digital learning and the role of technology.
3. Apply best digital learning practices to the role of facilitator and learner,
4. Critically discuss the factors involved in the creation of an inclusive digital learning environment.
Content
• Introduction to the module, Student introductions and sharing current teaching practice. Setting up the Community of Practice.
• Define Learning and Digital Learning/e-Learning. A comparison between face-to-face learning and online learning.
• Rationales for integrating ICTs into learning.
• Digital Learning. Synchronous and Asynchronous. Evidence of success. Blended/Hybrid/Hyflex Learning.
• Frameworks for learning. A tool for reflecting on the level of use of ICTs in teaching. SAMR, TPACK, BLOOMS, UDL and Deep Pedagogies for Learning.
• Learning Theory Introduction - Behaviourism and Cognitivism and relation to instructional design.
• Learning Theory: Social Constructivism, Connectivism and digital scaffolding in relation to instructional design.
• Learning Theory: Andragogy and e-Learning and relation to instructional design.
• Community of Practice
• The role of Te Tiriti/bicultural responsiveness in creating an inclusive learning environment.
• Role of the Facilitator
• Role of the Learner
• Assessment of Online Learning- An introduction.
• Contemporary Issues in Digital learning
• ICTs and Ethics in Digital learning. Equity, Access. Digital Divide.
• Conclusion and reflection on learning.
Assessment Criteria
The assessment is Competency based assessment GM5. The student will be required to achieve a Pass in all the assessments as part of the portfolio of evidence requirement.
Learning and Teaching Resource
All teaching and learning resources will be available in the Learning Management System and will adhere to NZ Educational copyright guidelines. All resources will be in digital form.
