This module promotes students' critical analysis and application of social policy and community development theories. Students will examine and analyse a range of social, community and Maaori development responses in social work contexts.

- 1. Critically analyse and report on the impact of dominant ideologies on social policy at international, national and local levels
2. Critically examine and discuss the principles and processes of participation, social capital, social cohesion and civil society
3. Critically analyse and evaluate social policy and policy development processes in a bicultural context, using social work frameworks of human rights and social justice at international, national and local levels
4. Evaluate Community Development models as responses to social, cultural, political, economic and environmental developments in Aotearoa New Zealand and globally.
5. Create a community development response to an emerging social need that demonstrates integration of theory and practice - Content

- Assessment Criteria
- The portfolio is comprised of multiple components.
Students need to provide evidence against all learning outcomes, and gain an overall mark of 50% to pass this module.
