Prescription
The aim of this module is to critically analyse contemporary theory, approaches and debates related to social work practice in a chosen area or field as negotiated with the social work teaching team. Students will negotiate study criteria and assessment requirements under the direction of an appointed social work academic staff member and enrolment in this module will be subject to approval by the social work teaching team.

- On the successful completion of this module the student will be able to:
• Independently undertake a critical enquiry into a field or area of social work practice by analysing relevant social work theories and models, structural drivers, and contemporary social and professional issues.
• Establish an effective relationship with an academic supervisor.

- Literature Reviews, Professional Development, Directed Study proposal. Study criteria and assessment requirements, examining the topic. (Additional content is dependent on the chosen topic)
- Teaching and Learning Strategy

Methods may include workshops and practical classes, tutorials, case-based learning, inquiry-based learning, group activities & discussion, supported online learning, e-portfolio, practice simulation. - Assessment Criteria
- Assessment in this module is achievement based and the application and assessment of transferable skills are integrated in the assessment tasks. The overall mark to pass the module must be 50%.
