Prescription
In this course students will apply building mathematics, and learn about roof cladding and wall cladding. The course content covers aspects of Fundamentals Skill Set 8, and Exterior Envelope Skill Set 1 and 3 of the New Zealand Certificate in Carpentry Specifications.

- 1. Calculate physical quantities of materials.
2. Identify types and properties of longrun roofing, requirements for framing, underlay and fixing
3. Identify how to fix sheet and lineal board claddings, consider claddings at corners, penetrations and joins, as well as consider how to integrate cladding materials. - Content
- Calculations (LO1):
- Quantities of claddings, roof coverings, fixings, accessories, underlays, flashings
Roofing (LO2):
- Roof claddings installed by subcontractors include concrete, clay and metal tiles; sheet, liquid and torch-on membranes; timber, slate and asphalt shingles
- Longrun roofing includes metal and translucent roofing materials
- Identify how to install longrun roofing, skylights, and spouting, and know how to integrate new roof cladding with existing.
Claddings (LO3):
- Fixing as per manufacturers requirements - Assessment Criteria
- The portfolio is comprised of multiple components. Students need to pass all components of the portfolio and provide sufficient evidence against all learning outcomes in order to pass this module.
