About
Kia ora. Nau mai, haere mai ki Wintec.
Ko Rachel tōku ingoa. I have been working at Wintec since 2016 as a Liaison Librarian. I am fortunate to work across all the campuses (including offsite) with the faculties I look after. So if you are studying in the Centre for Applied Science and Primary Industry (horticulture, animal technology, and science), Languages, Sport Science and Human Performance, Trades (culinary/hospitality) or hairdressing, beauty and research, you will hopefully see me in your class at some point in the semester. I can come in and help you with researching, understanding referencing, and getting to know the resources Wintec has to help you be a successful student. The librarian’s side of the job involves looking at the books and collections to keep them relevant and up-to-date.
I enjoy working with and getting to know you, so you can feel comfortable with the academic side of being a tauira. Being part of the greater support team is really rewarding.
I live out in the hills past Cambridge, and I love the little part of ‘paradise’ I live in. My two children are of the age where most of my time is spent being a taxi service to various sports/dance classes; otherwise, I will be out walking the dogs or watching cricket at Seddon Park in the summer!
Enjoy your time here at Wintec, and shout if I can help at all on your journey.
