About

Hong specialises in thermal spray coatings and carries out extensive research in the areas of plasma spray technology, thermal barrier coatings, metal forming processes, ceramic composite materials, materials analysis, characterisation and testing. He has presented and published extensively at international conferences and in peer-reviewed international journals. He also holds several Chinese patents. These publications and patents cover the fabrication and characterisation of nanostructured thermal barrier coatings, laser surface treatment, and powder metallurgy. He is now serving as an editorial board member of Sustainability and is also a reviewer board member of Coatings, and Symmetry.

Hong has been a reviewer of manuscripts for Surface and Coating Technology, Journal of Materials Science, Materials Letters, and others.
