What do you enjoy about teaching/your job?
What do you love about your area?
Theatre is a medium that combines so many other art forms and gives space for stories to be told in a completely unique way. It’s a space where an audience and artist create a relationship within a small amount of time, trusting in each other to step into the unknown journey. It’s in that space that magic exists.
Tell us about your experience in the industry
Graduating from NASDA in 2013, I started my professional career at The Court Theatre in Ōtautahi (Christchurch), where I have worked on and off throughout the last seven years. I have been a part of several touring productions, musicals, and plays within New Zealand. My career highlight would be playing Elphaba in Wicked in the New Zealand premiere. I have been recently working closely within Māori theatre in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) and have been pursuing producing alongside acting work.
What keeps you busy outside of Media Arts?
I love poetry, songwriting, creating shows, and performing in productions.
I have a strong passion for Te Ao Māori and am currently studying te reo māori.
I am a strong advocate towards human rights, and my own creative work is driven from a lot of social and political issues.
