What do you enjoy about teaching/your job?

I really enjoy introducing students to contemporary art concepts in an experimental, hands on environment. Students come in with their own backgrounds and ways of seeing art and the world, I'm interested in seeing how they bring this into their practice.

What do you love about your area?

Visual arts has a complex and compelling distant and recent history. Entering into this conversation creates exciting challenges and opportunities.

Tell us about your experience in the industry

I finished my Honours at Wintec in 2013, continuing as an artist alongside my day job up until starting teaching recently in a part-time capacity in order to pursue my Masters at the same time. I have exhibited in group and solo shows in galleries in Hamilton and Tauranga.

What keeps you busy outside of Media Arts?

I am currently busy developing a new series of paintings for my Masters. I am inspired by psychological research into adolescence in NZ. Also from artists over a variety of mediums dealing with narratives and formal pursuits stemming from being a New Zealander.
