The Wharekai
The wharekai (dining hall) is used primarily for communal meals, but other activities may be held here. The space is ideal for small wananga (teaching and learning activities).
Capacity: 60 maximum
- Six mobile rectangular tables
- 60 grey seats
- Kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery
- Karakia will be said before every meal.
- Never sit on tables- seats are provided for your convenience.
- Appropriate clothing to be worn in the dining room, no pyjamas allowed.
- Our Marae is an alcohol-free zone. The possession of alcohol on Marae premises will trigger immediate cancellation of the booking.
- Keep the dining and kitchen area clean and tidy at all times.
- After every meal, wipe down tables and benchtops.
- Do not wipe seats with the cloth used for tabletops.
- Do not stack chairs on tabletops.
- Ensure all dishes and resources are clean and returned to the correct cupboards.
- Wipe down all tables.
- Clean all benches.
- Take all your food away with you.
- Sweep and mop floors in both the kitchen and dining area.
- Place tea towels in the blue bucket, on the rear bench in the kāuta-wharekai.
- Turn off the main electrical switches.
- Advise the Marae team of any damages or breakages to enable replacement and/or repair in readiness for the next user.
