Celebrating the Māori New Year at Wintec
Matariki celebrations are underway at Wintec from now until late July.
Matariki, which is the Māori New Year, is a time to reflect and celebrate people, culture, history and language.
As part of our celebrations, we have invited a number of inspirational guest speakers to Wintec to speak on a range of interesting topics including ethnic identification and inequality, therapy for criminals and indigenous populations.
There is also a Matariki exhibition which features a collaboration of works by past and current Māori and Pasifika media art students and their interpretation of Matariki, which opens Friday 19 June.
All events are free and open to the public to attend.
