Wintec venues contribute to events vibe in Hamilton
Wintec is seeing a record number of people through its venue spaces. More than 25,000 people attended around 560 events held at its city campus venues in just nine months (from July 2015 – March 2016). Events ranged from banquet dinners, awards evenings, weddings and conferences to school balls, meetings and business workshops.
Since opening in 2010, the popularity of Wintec's venue spaces has grown to make it one of the top providers in the region for quality venue spaces, says Wintec's Communications Director, Erin Andersen.
"We've seen an increase in the number of events being booked in our venue facilities over the years and we are significant contributor to increasing events activity in Hamilton and the Waikato region.
"Engaging with the community is important for us and having our venue spaces available to the public, and for Wintec use as well, is a great way of doing this. It helps us build important community and industry connections that can have all sorts of positive flow-on benefits for our students and staff."
The versatility of the rooms and the fact they're so central and modern are part of what makes them so popular," she says.
The Atrium, which is located within Wintec House, an award winning heritage building, is Wintec's flagship space holding up to 500 people cocktail style. Three smaller venues in the city – The Long Room, also located in Wintec House, and two events rooms within the Bill Gallagher Centre hold between 50 and 150 people.
Wintec also runs the The Training Space at its Rotokauri campus in north Hamilton. It include two venue spaces, popular with industry groups for meetings and training days.
