This module provides the students with real world experience in their final year of study, to equip the students with the hands-on skills and experiences that the advertising industry is needing.

Spatial design graduate and agency director, Alex Peacock, believes the team of 11 encompass a diverse variety of skills from designers to marketing experts. Alex finished her Bachelor of Design in 2023 and has come back this year to complete her Graduate Diploma in Communication.

“I am excited to take on a more serious leadership role, and work more inclusively and collaboratively with my peers,” Alex said.

During the final week of term one the students launched their agency to the public, displaying their finalised website and branding. The event showcased the agency’s core values: authenticity, creativity, resourcefulness, trust and reliability.

The group have delegated a number of services to provide their clients, including campaign strategies, design thinking, storytelling aspects and digital outputs.

Canadian exchange student and resident designer, Kait Meijer says they “offer a wide range of options because we can provide both visual and written communication deliverables”.

Fortyone have already begun working with their first client, FIFO, Nawtons new, up-and-coming community supermarket that opened on May 4. The comms students have spent the first weeks of term two brainstorming creative marketing strategies and services to help the business build a relationship with their customers.

Through this agency project the students are developing career ready skills as they apply the expertise they’ve learnt in their degree, to real world application. As they near the end of their studying here at Wintec, they are framing the groundwork for future employment.
