Hamilton City Information Session
Explore study options at our Hamilton City Campus available for Semester 1 2025! This whānau-friendly event is a great opportunity to ask any pātai (questions) you may have and get your enrolment sorted.
Students in this programme will learn intermediate computing skills to prepare for work or further study. Students will learn skills in project management, web development, branding and design, as well as professional ethical practice, security risks, common hardware and software problems.
Tutors will support students at every step on their journey and extensive online support is provided. All classes take place in computer labs.
Students can enrol full time or there is an online option. With this national qualification, students can improve their job prospects or go onto further study.
Learning takes place in a project-based environment so that computing skills can be gained in a real-life context. As part of a technology design team, students will learn skills in project management, web development, branding and design. The course also introduces professional, ethical practices, security risks and how to fix common hardware and software problems.

Thanks to the Certificate in Computing, Naydeen was able to land a job in the energy sector, and can build her career with the skills she gained at Wintec.
Naydeen opted to study the Certificate in Computing online, as this meant she could work at her own pace, study from anywhere with a Wi-Fi connection or even utilise the early hours of the morning when she couldn't sleep. The Certificate in Computing course is also delivered face-to-face at the Wintec City Campus.

This programme is made up of direct teaching hours and self-directed or independent study. If you study full-time, you have 22 hours each week of timetabled classes in our computer labs.

English language requirements
Candidates who have English as a second language are required to have an International English Language Test System (IELTS) academic score of 5.5, with no individual band score lower than 5.0; or equivalent.

If you are a new student, it is compulsory for you to attend your first day (induction) and we welcome you to bring whānau and friends to support you. You will be introduced to your tutors and new classmates, be given an overview of this programme, and receive a personalised timetable. Online students are encouraged to attend, but it is not compulsory.
