Welcome to Wintec
Kia ora koutou. We are so excited to have you joining us.
On this page, you will find everything you need to know about student life, our campuses, how to prepare for your first days, and what support is available. If there's anything you need or if you have any questions, please get in contact with us.
Take a look around
Press the play button to find out about our campuses and support services such as Te Kete Manaaki, IT assistance, and learning support available throughout your journey.
You can also book a campus tour to check out the facilities before your first day, get your parking and Student ID organised, and we can show you where your classrooms are.
Your first day of class
Your first day, also known as your induction day, is when you will receive resources and information that will benefit your studies.
We plan the day to make you feel welcome and prepared to help you get the most out of your time.
To find out when your first day is and what you may need to bring with you, use the course search box below and click the 'Your First Day' tab on your programme page.
Get ready checklist
Take a look at our handy checklist below to find out what you can get sorted out before you arrive.
Your Student ID Card is a multi-purpose card that gives you access to your classrooms, study areas, studios, and after-hour access to both the City and Rotokauri hubs. It is your library card (which can be topped up to pay for printing). You can also use it to prove you are a student to access discounts and giveaways at locations beyond Wintec, like at restaurants and on transport.
You can choose your own picture and arrange the card in advance, or we can take the photo for you when you come on-site – please visit
the main SEIC counter where the card will be made for you on the spot.
Organise your ID by emailing your name, Student ID number, and a head and shoulders photo to idcards@wintec.ac.nz. Please include your postal address if you would like us to post it to you. Check out the Best-start Guide below for steps on choosing your own photo.
Get information on funding your studies here. We have a range of scholarships that you may be eligible for, and if you are a domestic student, you may also be eligible for financial support with Studylink.
The Best-start Guide is designed to make your initial weeks easier. It includes tips about what to complete before you arrive, in the first week and more. It also has all the helpful resources and services we provide.
