Background
To assist women students enrolled in Waikato or Bay of Plenty tertiary institutions, who are majoring in a non-traditional field for women. 

Eligibility
Applicants for the award must be:
a) A women student enrolled full-time in the second year or above, of a first-degree programme, offered by a Waikato or Bay of Plenty tertiary institution, majoring in a non-traditional field for women (ie women make up less than 30% of the student cohort), such as computer science, engineering, mathematics, technology.
b) Holders of New Zealand citizenship or have held permanent residence for at least two years.

Value
$1,000 per year, from the second year onward, for the course of the degree, up to a maximum period of three years. Payment of annual instalments will be subject to satisfactory progress in the degree programme.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring that their referee sends their confidential reference by the due date, using the form provided on the Academic Awards page of the Waikato Graduate Women Educational Trust website.

More Information

  • The award will be made primarily on academic merit.
  • The Awards Committee of the Waikato Graduate Women Educational Trust will administer the award.
  • The Committee’s decision is final.
  • The number of awards will be subject to availability of funds and standard of applications. If in the opinion of the Committee, applications are not of an acceptable standard, no award will be made.
  • Applications close 30 April annually.
  • Award winners will be informed in June of the year applications are submitted.
