Creative Industries Pathway

The Creative Industries Vocational Pathway is for people who have a desire to imagine and create using new and exciting ideas, and then share these ideas with the world. You will have the opportunity to present our various and unique cultures in your own way. From art to music, fashion and interior design, to performance or journalism; you will inform, entertain and amaze us. You will need determination and adaptability to keep your work relevant and essential in this ever-evolving industry. Te Ara Pūtake My Academic Pathway

Hamilton City Campus

This programme is for those who want to begin study, but need to build confidence or brush up on skills. Students will choose from five pathways that align with their career goals, including Health, Social Practice, Media Arts, and the Open pathway for general subjects and skills. Students will gain essential academic knowledge, capabilities, and skills needed to succeed at higher levels of study.

New Zealand Diploma in Journalism

Hamilton City Campus

This programme is a one-year intensive course designed to launch graduates into an exciting career in the media. With an emphasis on news storytelling and writing, students will also master multi-media skills in photography and videography, social media, audience engagement and CMS (Content Management Systems). Publishing regularly, they will build a portfolio from authentic experiences in class and work placements to get the edge in the competitive media job market.

Bachelor of Communication

$7,780* per year

Hamilton City Campus

This degree has been designed for students to develop skills to thrive in the media and communications industry. The programme focuses on media communication and marketing craft, along with critical thinking, creative media, content production, and professional practice. Students will have the opportunity to undertake real-world collaborative projects with students from other disciplines, and with industry. The degree has pathways in Creative Media and Digital Marketing. A hybrid Screen Arts and Production pathway is also available.

Bachelor of Contemporary Art

$7,780* per year

Hamilton City Campus

This degree is for those who want to engage in fields of art including painting, photography, screen-based media, installation, street art, sculpture, curation or illustration. Students will study in a community where individual vision and personality are valued as a relevant contribution to our society.

Bachelor of Design

$8,508* per year

Hamilton City Campus

This degree will develop students’ capabilities in creativity, innovation, and design. Students will learn to apply creative problem-solving and design skills in multiple professional domains. As part of this programme, students will have the opportunity to undertake collaborative real-world projects with students from other disciplines and industry. The Bachelor of Design has an endorsement in Visual Communication or Spatial Design.

Bachelor of Music and Performing Arts

$7,780* per year

Hamilton City Campus

This degree is for those who want to find their own musical voice and actively engage and learn in a flexible and authentic environment. Students will have 24-hour access to recording studios and practice/rehearsal spaces, including fully equipped production edit suites. Students will have the opportunity to undertake collaborative real-world projects with students from other disciplines, and with industry. The degree has pathways in Performance, Audio Production, Composition and Theatre.
