Work-Based Learning and Graduate Employment

If you're looking for staff in hairdressing, beauty therapy, hospitality, or cookery, we can help. You could take on one of our students through our work-based learning programme or even hire a graduate. Get in contact with us today and we'll help you find the right person for your business.

Work-Based Learning

Have one of our students work for you while they study.

Our students are always looking for opportunities to apply their skills while they study. If you'd like to have one of our students work in your business give us a call. When you provide work-based learning you will be helping someone to create their future.

Beauty therapy

Your student will:

  • Be committed to spending 2 weeks in your clinic or spa at times suitable to both the student and employer.
  • Be motivated and ready to work.
  • Students are trained in a commercial clinic environment as they work towards being work ready.
  • Have ongoing access to our support team, to tailor the student’s skills to your specific needs.

Hairdressing

Your student will:

  • Be committed to spending up to 60 hours with you in your salon.
  • Have at least 10 weeks of introduction to the New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Salon Support), Level 3.
  • Have ongoing access to our support team, to tailor the student’s skills to your specific needs.
  • Be motivated and ready to work.

Food and beverage service

Your student will:

  • Have the necessary experience required to work within your team as junior front-of-house staff.
  • Be committed to spending 4 weeks with you.
  • Be motivated and work-ready.
  • Have worked part-time for at least 7 weeks.
  • Have ongoing access to our support team, to tailor the student’s skills to your specific needs.

Cookery

Your student will:

  • Have the necessary experience required to work within your team as a trainee/Commis Chef, the next step in their career path.
  • Be committed to spending 4 weeks with you.
  • Be motivated and work-ready.
  • Have ongoing access to our support team, to tailor the student’s skills to your specific needs.

Hire a Graduate

When you take on one of our graduates, you will be getting someone who is ready to hit the ground running.

Beauty therapy

Our beauty therapy graduates have:

  • 80 hours of work experience in our professional beauty therapy clinic.
  • Acquired a wide range of practical skills and knowledge in beauty treatments as well as customer service, time management, and professionalism.
  • Graduated with a Certificate in Beauty Services (Level 4).

Hairdressing

Our hairdressing graduates have:

  • Trained part-time for 32 weeks in our training salon.
  • Acquired a wide range of practical skills in hairdressing and salon operation: customer service, teamwork, and time management.
  • Graduated with Hair Design Year One, New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Salon Support), Level 3.

Food and beverage service

Our Food and Beverage Service graduates have:

  • Worked part-time for 15 weeks.
  • Graduated with either a NZ Certificate in Food and Beverage Services Level 3 (Restaurant and Barista) or Level 4 (Restaurant and Bar Supervisory).
  • Acquired a wide range of practical and soft skills tailored to provide food and beverage services in cafes, restaurants, and function
    centres. Including customer and food services, professional hospitality practices, barista and bar work.

Cookery

Our Cookery graduates have:

  • Had 500 hours of practical cooking time, in practical classes and restaurant services at Windows.
  • Graduated with either a NZ Certificate in Cookery Level 4 or a NZ Diploma in Cookery Level 5.
  • Acquired skills ranging from complex to advanced cookery skills, methods and techniques associated with larder, general cookery, and patisserie, as well as soft skills such as teamwork punctuality, personal presentation and communication.
