Sports Leadership and Outdoor Experiences (Level 2)
About the programme
Sports Leadership and Outdoor Experiences is a level 2 course that is a great opportunity for those who have an interest in sports and outdoor education.
Delivered at our Rotokauri Campus and in the field within an hour of campus, you will explore a variety of activities such as personal training, sports coaching, umpiring, industry site visits, canoeing, mountain biking, tramping, rock climbing, adventure tourism, and first aid.
Gain first-hand industry experience by connecting with local industry partners to get a taste of what a sports and outdoor recreation career is like. You will learn effective communication, team building and interpersonal skills, kaitiakitanga, and about risk management.
Once completed, these credits count towards your NCEA Level 2 qualification. You will also have the knowledge and skills required to pathway to our level 3 Sports Leadership and Outdoor Education course, or a level 4 Certificate in our Centre for Sport Science and Human Performance exercise and outdoor qualifications.

Criteria: Students enrolled in the WTA programmes must still attend secondary school and keep up with their normal school work. The unit standards achieved in WTA will count towards NCEA Level 1, 2, or 3.

Programme structure: One day per week (8.30am-3pm) during the school term
