Background

PIPEF was established in 1972 (renamed to PEF in 2016) to encourage Pacific students into further education and is funded by the Ministry of Education. The Foundation’s board members reflect the modern Pacific Island community and its various cultures.

Eligibility

The financial assistance available from PIPEF and NMKT is for students of Niue, Samoa, Cook Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Fiji and other Pacific Islands descent who hold New Zealand citizenship or permanent residence in New Zealand. Students holding a temporary student permit are NOT eligible for assistance from PIPEF or NMKT. To be eligible for these scholarships, you must be enrolled in a tertiary institution in New Zealand, be of Pacific Island descent and be a New Zealand citizen or resident. There are two types of scholarships available.

Undergraduate Scholarships

PEF will award scholarships for undergraduate study in any field, recipients will receive a grant of $5,000. Applications from mature students are welcome.

Postgraduate Scholarships

PEF will award scholarships for postgraduate study in any field, recipients will receive a grant of $10,000. Applications from mature students are welcome.
