Physiotherapy Additional Costs

Additional to programme fees, the following are other costs associated with studying the Bachelor of Physiotherapy. All costs are approximate, dependent on where the item is purchased, and are subject to change.

Kura Cloud subscription

Kura Cloud is an online learning platform used for anatomy and physiology.
Cost: $70 approximately 
This will be invoiced to you at the time of your enrolment.  This is not covered by StudyLink and is a compulsory fee payment.

Health screening and vaccinations

At the start of the programme, you will be required to provide evidence of your immunity and vaccination status. Immunisation status can only be ascertained by a blood test arranged by your doctor/health provider and there will be associated costs. Forms will be available during week one. Vaccinations are available from Wintec Health Centre, open 8am to 4pm. Phone 834 8869 or you can arrange this with your Medical Practitioner/Medical Centre.

Cost: Up to $300 depending on provider and screening/vaccinations required. In addition, you may require follow-up screening or vaccinations. Annual flu vaccinations during the declared influenza season are also a requirement for undertaking a clinical placement in the Waikato DHB (unless using an approved face mask). If you have any questions please email us.   

First aid certificate

You will need to provide a copy of a current first aid certificate before your second semester or have evidence you have enrolled in a suitable course that will be completed within the first six months of the programme. Options will be discussed at your induction.

Cost: Approximately $120-$240.

Textbooks

There are no compulsory textbooks in the first year of this programme. Textbooks will be covered at your induction.

Uniform

Arrangements will be made for our uniform supplier to visit our main campus to custom-fit your uniform to order. This is for the top/shirt requirements. You will also need to provide your own full-length black trousers or black dress shorts; and black, dark blue or dark brown lace-up shoes or closed-in style with a soft sole and low heel.

Cost: Uniforms shirts cost approximately $65 per shirt and you will need at least 2 shirts.

Travel, parking and accommodation costs for clinical placement outside of your home area

You will be required to pay for your own travel, parking, and accommodation when undertaking clinical placements as follows:

  • Year one - total of 30 hours placement, ideally within your area of residence
  • Year two - one placement of 30 hours, ideally within your area of residence. Next placement will be 3 weeks full-time and could be anywhere in the Midland region of New Zealand
  • Year three - two 5-week full-time placements, within the Midland region of New Zealand
  • Year four - two 8-week full-time placements, within the Midland region of New Zealand

You will need reliable transport to and from your clinical placement.

There may be scholarships available to support Māori and Pacific students with travel and accommodation expenses. Further details regarding scholarships will be made available once you have been offered a place in the programme.

Please note, that while you are on placement you will need access to a computer/device with a camera and the internet so you can undertake assessments and communicate with your tutor etc.

Technology

You will need access to a computer with a camera and internet so you can access study material, submit assessments, participate in video conferencing, and communicate with your tutors.

Cost: Variable depending on computer purchased and internet plan selected.
